Sweet Potato Tuna Patties



  • 500g sweet potato, peeled and roughly chopped 
  • 185g tuna in springwater, drained 
  • 1/2 cup grated cheese (lactose free) 
  • 1/2 cup frozen peas 
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp cinnamon 
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg 
  • 1/3 cup quinoa bread crumbs 


  1. Steam the sweet potato until soft
  2. Drain all excess water
  3. Add to a large mixing bowl 
  4. Using a masher, mash the potato until there are no chunks 
  5. Add all the additional ingredients to the sweet potato mash, combine well using a wooden spoon
  6. Season with salt and pepper 
  7. Use a dessert spoon to scoop out some mixture, roll into a ball using your hands and then roll through the bread crumbs
  8. Heat a nonstick frypan with some oil on medium
  9. Place the tuna patties in the pan, slightly flatten using a spatular
  10. Fry each side until golden brown and cooked through
  11. Repeat until all mixture is finished
